Magic... or Science?!

Excerpt from Wades Science Fair Project "It was apparent that my hypothesis was true. The string that was soaked in water attracted other water molecules sufficient enough to allow the water to travel sideways; resisting the natural course of gravity. The attraction of the water molecules on the dry string was not sufficient enough to allow the water to resist the effects of gravity. This test could be further expanded to include similar compounds such as oil. I hypothesize that the oil would behave similar to the water in this test".
