We have a new family member...Introducing Dash!

So all the moms out there that have ever heard the words "we are going to wait for the right time to have kids". We have all heard them uttered before. The response to hearing these word is quite possibly universal. We smile and nod our heads in agreement at how carefully that couple is wanting to prepare for the arrival of a new member of the family~
I want you all to know I honestly feel that this is so respectable for people to plan and ponder when its the right time to make such a move.

Now friends, this part you ALL can relate too. Do you ever feel like you must hold yourself back from saying something rude in these situations?
My friends I DO!I always think...really?!... So you ACTUALLY THINK that there will EVER be a time in your life you will be ready to; in a matter of months go from being beautiful, sexy and spontaneous..
to...
Huge, hormonal and not interested?!..I know right! Nobody is really EVER ready for all that lol!

I guess I am on this proverbial soap box to make mention of being ready for a pet. We haven't felt ready for a pet a long while. I would joke with friends and say "why would I EVER do that?!". I then would remind them, that I currently deal with five... no,SIX guys, who regularly miss the toilet when peeing and then Rowynn's discovery that she can remove her diaper? without going into detail on the atrocities of yuck I have encountered EWWWE!. I had actually told my kids that when Rowynn became potty trained, I would consider "thinking" about adding a pet to our family.Little did they know I actual meant JUST THINK,lol!

Isn't it so awesome that just when you think you have a perfect plan worked out, life lets you know THERE IS ANOTHER plan, lol!
So I go on CraigsList looking for nothing really. I just love to look for free stuff. I also wanted to figure out a cool idea for Seth's Birthday this weekend.
I saw some free cat ad, I really looked like it was NEEDING a good home yikes itwas not even close to enticing, lol! I thought hmm. I wonder if there are any GOOD cats or dogs that could handle a family like ours. So I went over and looked at the "Pet" postings and this is what I found.
sweet goofy lab/husky (anchorage)
Date: 2009-08-12, 10:36AM AKDT
1-yr old lab/husky mix rescue. Neutered and up-to-date on shots.
Playful and a sweet cuddler. Great with children. GREAT running partner.
Eager to learn. Needs FENCED yard, patience and some additional training/socialization.
Will provide XL kennel as well. Small re homing fee.

SO I called.

I got to talk to the nicest lady! We talked for a little while about this dog. I went into the conversation skeptical 'Seriously why would any one get rid of a perfectly good dog? Let me tell you.

Because she loves him so much and wants him to be happy. They moved and their house situation is such that letting him run free, was dangerous because of the road. Keeping him on a leash all day would have been hard on him.

So she listed him with the decision that if the right potential owner didnt happen to come around that she would simply keep him.

We have him home and the kids are ecstatic. They came and kissed him goodnight close to a dozen times. He is so sweet, I am completely in love.
He is hyper and his name was an indication ~ "Dash" . Derived from his love of chasing squirrels.

So can I say we were ready for this? probably not. But when I think about all the things that have come along that I didn't feel ready for~ These are my favorite things: marriage, babies more babies Pageants, callings,Grad school~and well you know lol! Dash seems to have arrived exactly on schedule. I am so excited and hope we will be as much of a blessing to him as I already know he will be to us.

so true. i wish i had the attitude you have about life! i tend to drag my feet screaming when something new comes up. :) congrats on little dash! he's adorable. i miss our dog INCREDIBLY. we had to give him up when we moved up here b/c 200+ pound dogs don't find rentals very easily. so sad. i love his new family- but i miss my 2nd child. (t is #3- ha ha!).

congratulations! YAY! :) finally a dog to add to the lunsford family, i remember that you guys were wanting one for a long while - just never found the "right" time or the "right" one...
i'm glad it all worked out!
and i'm sure that the "great running partner" had something to do with the desire for getting him :)
i'm excited to see the new piece of the family <3

What a sweet looking dog. Oh, dogs are such a sacrafice, but they ALWAYS love you and are always there. Sometimes I feel like giving Penny away, but then I realize how much I would miss her. Especially when Scott is gone, she's my little buddy. The kids really feed on taking care of a pet!
