I guess you could say I have waged a war within myself. A war where, anything that is not a contributing trait to creating the life I want to experience, is getting put into the recycle bin. That is hardly the fitting end to such war criminals(2 Tim. 2:3)known to most under the aliases: Insecurity, pessimism and self deprecation. I however, can see the point in the rehabilitation of those traits that have caused to much pain and suffering.
Put through training insecurity could eventually become self acceptance right? I cant ask that every blemish disappear and every person I meet to absolutely LOVE everything about me. I can however realize that all the things about my looks and personality are uniquely mine. Whether I am prettier or more or less charming than someone else. There isn't anyone who can do a better job at being me.Not doing my very best with what I have been given, borders on dereliction of duty.(Matt. 5:15–16)
Pessimism is a coping mechanism that has switched teams over to the dark side. Originally designed to combat disappointment, pessimism corrupts even the greatest idea into imminent looming hardship. Pessimism is the exact lack of faith. The abandonment of hope and joy and the expectation of a dismal outcome.Pessimism is the preemptive strike on anything that has the potential to bring joy. Recycling this trait will take a lot of resources. There are many examples of people who have successful rehabilitated this trait. They are easy to spot. Just look for the Mothers or Fathers with the overflowing diaper bags. They plan for the worse case scenario, and often times are annoyed because they over packed.(Gordon B. Hinckley, “Words of the Prophet: The Spirit of Optimism,” New Era, Jul 2001, 4)
As far as Self Deprecation, This truly is a serious offense. The blatant disregard of specific direction to go forth and shine of This is serious that has some connections to insubordination. I am the only Eden Mara Our Father in Heaven has. Who am I to decide that I have value or not. The Lord and Savior says I do.Where do I put such destructive thoughts is there a way to rehabilitate such corruption? It seems that Self Deprecation is best served with work(Matt. 25:40).Lots of Serving of others seems to be the best way to quell these destructive thoughts. There is always something we CAN do. Even if you have convinced yourself that you are not worth anything. Why the heck cant you pass out hymn books? Service is an interesting thing. People who are handicapped and disabled can do it. Its a matter of showing gratitude for what You DO have to contribute(D&C 58:27.). Its impossible to feel worthless when you serve others.

this is really insightful- i think the idea of rehabing our "bad habits" is great- because really- those things don't do well in exile. :) they just keep finding a way back.
these are good thoughts for me to remember. i end up falling victim to each far too often than i realize!!! (until, of course, i'm crying in a corner somewhere over something insignificant).
